Hey guys, I really hope I can get into a good schedule soon but I’m currently working two jobs so…I’m busy lol.

Buttttt that isn’t why I’m coming to y’all today! I want to share an awesome interview I did with the amazing Isabella Ruiz for her novel that’s releasing November 24th, The Darkest War!

Le Interview

Hey Isabella! I’m super excited to have you joining me. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m very excited too! Thank you so much for having me on your blog!

Well, I’m a 16-year-old writer from Southern Alabama. I write stories that I hope will make people fall in love with reading, will entertain, and will inspire and uplift.

I always like to start out with a fun question so, if you could “steal” one authors writing style, who would it be and why?

That’s such a difficult question because honestly there are so many authors who have inspired how I write and how I convey my words. But I guess I would have to say Kiera Cass. There isn’t a single book that she has written that I haven’t found to be amazing. Her writing style is sophisticated, yet easy to understand and read, which I really admire.

Why did you decide to Indie publish?

Many reasons, but the number one would be that through independent publishing I get to have total control over my project. I truly feel that this was a story God wanted me to write, and furthermore wanted me to keep the important things there and untouched. With independent publishing I’m able to make sure that nothing major is changed and that I have the final say on any changes.

As you get ready to publish your debut novel, what are you most excited about?

I’m most excited to just…share this story with you. To see that, hopefully, people like these characters as much as I do, and that it brings someone hope, or at least entertains them.

And in the same vein, what are you most nervous about?

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous just to have my story out there. Knowing people are reading it, especially people I know in my hometown, makes me nervous. But I already know I have a lot of support for this story, in my family, hometown, and other places, so the fear isn’t too great, thankfully.

Could we have your favourite line from The Darkest War?

It’s closer to the end of the book, but I would have to say this line:

“What a sin to make an angel believe he doesn’t deserve to fly.”

What is your why as a writer?

Because…well, I don’t believe there would be any other possibility for me. Writing is how I deal with my emotions, it’s how I show them, too. I write to show others that they aren’t alone, that there is hope, and just to give people a good book to read.

And finally, if you could give one piece of advice to a brand new writer, what would it be?

Community is going to be your number one friend. Community is where you get your feedback, your motivation, your inspiration, mentorship, and friendships that will last you through your writing journey. I recommend it first and foremost.

Thank you so much for joining me on my blog! It was super fun interviewing you!!

Thank you for having me! I had a blast!
